The Problem with Fashion
The Problem with Fashion
We Have Enough Clothes for 6 Generations
Yet clothing production is expected to rise 63% by 2030 and triple by 2050. Fast fashion fuels environmental destruction and social injustice – excess volumes, toxic dyes, unpaid labour, and garments made to be thrown away.
Rewear, Recycle, Resell – Rethink
The world is discarding clothes faster than it can handle. Donation rates are low. Less than 15% of charity shop clothing donations are resold. Less than 1% of all garments are recycled. Most of the 92 million tonnes of annual textile waste ends up in landfills – often exported to developing countries.
- Less than 1% of clothing is recycled each year
- Only 30% of collected clothing gets resold
- Charity shops resell only 12–15% of donations
- The rest becomes pollution in someone else's backyard
Our Solution: Buy Less, Wear Longer.
The Illusion of Sustainable Fast Fashion
Circularity claims, recycling schemes, and recycled polyester marketing cannot undo overproduction. Most synthetic materials are not biodegradable and require harmful chemicals to reuse. Brands using these terms as greenwashing tactics do more harm than good. Sustainability without action is a myth.
The Abae Response
We’re done waiting for the industry to catch up. We designed Abae with a mission: clothes that don’t just look good – they do good. Made with 100% organic, biodegradable materials. Produced ethically. Built to last a lifetime. Cradle to Grave fashion means full circularity, full transparency, and full responsibility.
